Fab'n'Funky Challenge #118 - No DP!

We loved all your girly projects last week with our lace and pearls challenge.  Great entries again, ladies.  I'm sure Wendy had a really hard time choosing her top 3 but check out the Fab'n'Funky Challenge blog to see if you were lucky.  Be sure to grab your badge too.

We have another great challenge this week which launched today.  Lou is our fabby host and she has chosen something really great...

No Designer Papers

That's right - no patterned papers in sight!  We are sponsored by Joanna Sheen and one lucky winner will receive a £10 voucher.  I went with a clean and simple design (well, CAS for me!) this week and this is my card:

I used Kanban stamps to create the floral background picture.  I stamped in black and used both first and second generation ink.  I cut into three and mounted onto black card with foam tape.  The butterflies are also from Kanban.  I stamped with pink ink and then cut them out by hand.  To give dimension I used Pinflair glue gel so that the wings are raised off the page.  I bought the ribbon from the craft fair in Glasgow in March.  The sentiment is from my stash.

Hope you're enjoying your week.

Happy crafting,

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick post to show you some of the photos from my friend's wedding.  Although it went far too quickly, we all had a fantastic time.  Three nights of celebrating made for a great weekend!

Fab'n'Funky Challenge #117 - Lace and Pearls

There were certainly plenty of animal lovers for our last challenge.  All the paws were out!  Wendy had the hard job of picking her top three so check out the Fab'n'Funky Challenges blog to see if you've been chosen.  We also have a £10 Lili of the Valley gift voucher winner, picked at random.  Don't forget to pick up your winners badges.

Now let's focus on our next challenge and the lovely Pat has chosen a girly theme this week...

Lace and Pearls

The DT were given some fantastic images to play with from the Digi Doodle Shop and whilst I haven't made a card, I have tried my hand at making a wall hanging.

I chose the Perfume From Paris Set 1 as it was really versatile and I liked that the bottles were all so different.  I used Spellbinders Grand Labels Twenty Three for the base shape and layers.  The digis were all coloured with Promarkers in the following colours:

Fuchsia Pink
Blossom
Grass
Forest Green
Cornflower
Cinnamon

I used Spellbinders Grand Rectangles to cut an aperature in the centre of the Labels Twenty Three shape.  I coloured the lace with my Promarker in Blossom.  The green pearls were from my stash and originally came free with something I bought from Create and Craft.  Bargain!

This time I used the Grass Promarker to colour my lace and also added it to the perfume bottle.  I bought the lace from my local craft shop a while ago because I didn't have any in my ribbon box.  I've used nearly all of it on this project so I think another trip to the shop is in order!

I cut the pink layer in four with my guillotine for this section.  The sentitment is from Lili of the Valley and I added some of the coloured in lace with my extra thin super sticky red line tape.  Every layer has been attached with mounting foam.  I also used the red line tape to attach the panels to the lace and then backed with another panel of the same size.

The perfume bottles all have a touch of the MCS glitter and I added this with my Quickie Glue Pen.  I had been storing my pen with the nib facing down but this made the glue run out into the lid.  I've made sure they are all the right way up now!  The papers were from Pink Petticoat and came free with a crafty magazine a while back.

I would like to enter this project into the following challenges:
Craft Your Passion Challenges - Challenge 106:  Die cuts and punches
Paper Sundaes Challenges - Challenge 116:  Anything Goes
Stamptacular Sunday Challenge - Challenge 159:  Freebie Week (Anything Goes)

Hope you are all having a great week.

Happy crafting,

Fab'n'Funky Challenge #116 - On All 4's

Those embossing machines were whirring into action last week!  A super range of embossing styles and uses.  Great news - along with the random prize winner, we are also picking our Top 3.  Check out the Fab'n'Funky Challenges blog to see if you were one of the lucky ones.  Be sure to grab your button too.

This week our challenge host is the lovely Judith and she has chosen a great challenge...

On All 4's

So, we want you to include an animal somewhere on your project.  We are sponsored by the fabulous Lili of the Valley and I have used one of their adorable images on my card.  The image is called Milly Me and My Dog and is still available on their website.

I covered my card blank with a piece of pink pealescent cardstock and then topped with the three stripes of dotty card using foam tape.  The dotty cardstock is from eBay and has been in my stash for a while.  I coloured the doily with my Cobalt Blue Promarker and then added with doublesided sticky tape.

I coloured the lovely image with Promarkers in the following colours:

Milly
Almond
Blush
Primrose
Lemon
Canary
Ruby
Cobalt Blue
Indigo Blue
Swing
Cinnamon
Walnut
Dog
Ivory
Grass
Forest Green
Grass

The image was cut with Spellbinders Labels D.  I drew around the biggest label and made a faux nestie to frame the image.  To distress is used the Tim Holtz Paper Distresser Tool.  The ribbon was also coloured with my Grass Promarker.  The sentiment is also from Lili of the Valley and I used a 1.5" Dovecraft punch to cut it out.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Allsorts Challenge - Bingo (pink, yellow, blue)
Poodles Parlour - Going Dotty
Totally Papercrafts Friday Challenge 111 - Bingo (flowers, diecut, blue)
Hope you all have fun finding your animal inspiration.

Happy crafting,

Fab'n'Funky Challenge #115 - Emboss It

What a great variety of cards to celebrate Easter last week.  You've all outdone yourselves!  To see if you have been drawn as our lucky winner, check out the Fab'n'Funky Challenges blog.  Don't forget to grab your winner's badge too.

Now onto this week's challenge and we are sponsored by Stamp Fairy and Pink Cat Studio.  The lovely Emma is our host and she has chosen...

Emboss It
I love all things embossed and have incorporated traditional paper embossing and heat embossing onto my card.

I've admired Krista Smith's Saturated Canary images for a while and have seen so many great cards featuring them, I thought it was about time I bought some and gave it a go myself!  This is Nevaeh and isn't she gorgeous.  A delight to colour too.  I used the following Promarkers to colour her:

Face and skin
Almond
Blush
Dusky Pink
Artic Blue
Hair
Cinnamon
Henna
Walnut
Dress, socks and shoes
Canary
Yellow
Black
Cool Grey 4

The sunflower background is actually a printed vellum and I attached this with brads.  It hasn't shown up in the picture but two are black and two are grey.  I embossed the black pearlised card with my Provocraft D'vine Swirls embossing folder run through my Cuttlebug, rounding the corners with my X-Cut corner punch.

The silver paper was from Create and Craft and I picked it because it wasn't super shiny.  I cut the sentiment and image using Spellbinders Labels Twenty with my Grand Calibur.  The sentiment is from Kanban and I inked it with Versamark, then embossed in fine detail black embossing powder with my Dovecraft heat tool.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenge:
Cardmadfairy's Digi Days - Dies and/or punches

Spellbound by Spellbinders!

If anyone watches Create and Craft you'll know the fabulous Sue Wilson.  She has been inspiring us this weekend with her wonderful creations and I decided I would try my own this afternoon.  I can understand now why Sue jokes about always making humongous cards!  This one is a whopper at 9.5" by 8"!  I think it'll need a suitcase not an envelope!

I used the following Spellbinders to make this card:
Damask Accents
Damask Motifs
Classic Diamonds
Classic Bracket Edgeabilities
Classic Triple Scallop (insert)

The sentiment is from Kanban and the lace, ribbon and brad were from my stash.  The teal pearlised cardstock is from Crafter's Companion.  If anyone would like to visit Sue's brilliant blog simply click here

I hope you've all had a good weekend and managed to craft a little, or a lot!

Happy crafting,
Rachel x
