Fab'n'Funky Challenges #180 - Make a Set

Hi Everyone,

We are back at Fab'n'Funky Challenges with a great new challenge.  Be sure to head over to the blog to check out our winners from the Christmas in July challenge though.  They are just waiting to be seen!

On to this week's challenge which is hosted by the wonderful Shirley who is a fab cake decorator too.  She has chosen a brilliant challenge to get those creative juices flowing!

Make a Set

That's right this week we would love to see you make a set of cards, maybe a card and a matching tag or envelope. You could make a gift box with a matching card and tag.

This week you have three times the luck of winning a wonderful prize as we have three wonderful sponsors - Doodle Pantry, StampArt Design by Kathryne and Digital Delights.  Just click on their names to see their super designs.

I chose to work with an image from Doodle Pantry and when I came across "Oh Baby" I knew it would be perfect.  I have so many friends who are expecting babies this year!  Must be something in the water!

I made a set of four cards all using the pre-coloured yellow baby bottle from Doodle Pantry and some yellow gingham paper from Craft Artist 2 Professional.

I chose to use blue and pink card blanks for to differentiate the boys and girls cards.  I also added embossing and die cutting to each to help tie them together.  The folders I used were from Crafter's Companion Embossalicious range.  I created the die cuts with Spellbinders Grand Splendid Circles, Labels One and Labels Eight and the "baby" was cut with a Provo Craft die.  My stamps came from a set I received free from Create and Craft for being a club member.

Here they are one by one...

As you'll see I used my X-Cut corner rounder punch on two of the cards and added some pretty pearls to the girly cards.

As we are in our summer season, this challenge will run for two weeks so you have until 6 August to post your entry.

Happy crafting,
Rachel x

Fab'n'Funky Challenges #172 - Ribbon or Lace

Hi All,

What a glorious morning!  Until I hung out the washing!  Story of my life!  I hope you are all well and enjoying some crafty time this week.

We have a great new challenge over at the Fab'n'Funky Challenges blog but first the winner and Top 3 from last week have been posted.  Head on over to the blog to see our lucky winners.

Now, on to this week's challenge and we have the wonderful Vicky as our host.  She has chosen a great theme and I'm sure you'll all be eager to join in.  Our theme this week is...

Ribbon and Lace

You can add ribbon or lace or both to your project and then link it up to be in with a chance of a prize or Top 3 position.  Our sponsors this week are Doodle Pantry and StampArt Design by Kathryne.  Just click on their names to view the brilliant range of images.

I used a Doodle Pantry image for my card this week.  It's called Pitcher and Basin and can be found here.

I saw a similar design in a magazine and thought I'd have a go myself.  I started with an A4 piece of kraft card and cut it length-ways and then scored each piece in half to make two 6" x 4" card blanks.  I used my Tonic guillotine to cut the fronts on the diagonal.  I attached the two blanks together the Collall All Purpose Glue.  It really is the best glue in the world!

The image came with two patterned backing papers but I made the plain blue paper by using the colour picker feature in My Craft Studio.  I used the flowery backing paper to cover the fronts of my card and then added a piece of kraft cardstock that had been embossed with one of the A4 Sue Wilson embossing folders from Creative Expressions.

My image was cut using Spellbinders Grand Labels Eleven.  I added the lace to close the card and also for an extra girly finish.

I hope you can join us for our ribbon/lace challenge this week.

Fab'n'Funky Challenges #146 - Let's See Those Bears

Hi Lovelies,

Firstly I must apologise for the lateness of this post.  I can't blame Blogger this time though.  My internet at home is completely knackered so I'm having to travel to my parents house to use theirs this week.  Fingers crossed it is sorted for our next challenge.

I hope you've all had a great week.  Thank you again to those who entered our last challenge.  The winners are up on the blog now so check them out at Fab'n'Funky Challenges.

Our wonderful host this week is Wendy and she has chosen a fantastic theme to show off our furry friends...

Let's See Those Bears!

So all you have to do is include a bear on your project and then link it up.  Simples!  Our sponsor is the brilliant Doodle Pantry and the DT were lucky enough to receive some images to use.  They were all so gorgeous, I really had trouble choosing!

Eventually I settled on this pre-coloured cutie.  I love the bright green, blue and yellow accents.  Doodle Pantry were also kind enough to send us a couple of matching papers and I have used the checked one on my card.

I started by embossing the card blank with a dotty embossing folder run through my Cuttlebug.  I added washi tape in three colours to co-ordinate.  This is the first time I've used washi tape and I think it's fab.  The colours were such a great match too.

I used Spellbinders Labels Twenty Six for my layers and then added a couple of layered flowers.  The centre gem came free with a magazine last month.  I may add a sentiment later but at the moment I've kept it sentiment-free.

I hope you can join us for some beary fun this week.  Can't wait to check out your great projects.

Happy crafting,

Fab'n'Funky Challenges #139 - Things with Wings

Hi All,

I hope you've had a great week.  I've had a good week so far but boy is it flying!  I'm going to a wedding on Saturday and really hope the weather improves.  It is still raining like it is going out of fashion!

We have a fab new challenge for you over at Fab'n'Funky Challenges and our wonderful host Wendy has picked a fantastic theme...

Things with Wings

You can use butterflies, dragons, bees, angels or anything else with a set of wings!  We have the fab Doodle Pantry as our sponsor this week and the DT was lucky enough to have some digi images to use.

This is my owl inspired card.

I started by printing four copies of my image and then cut different parts from each one to decoupage.  I layered up with foam pads.  The base shapes are from the Spellbinders Grand Labels Eleven.  The shimmery white paper is from Debbi Moore.  I used a circle punch to make an aperature for the moon and then added My Craft Studio glitter with my Quickie Glue Pen.  I also added a few rays from the moon around my little owl.

I attached the layers with double sided sticky tape as the owl has a lot of dimension.  I used a large corner punch to round the corners of my card blank.

So get those wings a flapping!  Can't wait to see what you all make this week.

Happy crafting,

Fab'n'Funky Challenges #130 - Make Your Own Flowers

Hi All,

Another week and another challenge at Fab'n'Funky.  Woo!  Check out the blog to see if you were our lucky winner from the last challenge.  Don't forgot those badges too.

Wendy is our host this week and she has chosen a great challenge...

Make Your Own Flowers

You can use die cuts, punches or any other technique as long as they are handmade.  We are sponsored by Doodle Pantry this week.  Check out their website for great images for lots of occasions.

I used the Winter Wishes image.  I just fell in love with it as soon as I saw it.  I coloured my image with Promarkers and Flexmarkers in the following colours:

Forest Green
Ruby
Glacier Blue
Blue Grey 1
Antique White

I actually cut my image out with Spellbinders Grand Labels Twenty Three before colouring.  The frosting on the trees is courtesy of Flower Soft.  I used their Glitter Frosting with a hint of green.  It has a very unusual texture, with tiny white circles and lovely sparkly glitter.  I used the Flower Soft glue to add the frosting.

I've used two of the Petal Pairs punches in conjuction with the Click, Print, Go Petal Pairs Petites CD-ROM to make my flowers.    I layered these up together and then twisted the petals with a pair of metal tweezers.  I added these with Pinflair Glue Gel.  My red cardstock is from Cor'dinations.

Hope you have fun making your flowers this week.  Be sure to check out the other DT creations.

Happy crafting,
Rachel x

Fab'n'Funky Challenge #113 - Honour your Mum

What a lucky DT we were last week with all of your wonderful entries.  Green was a popular choice but the Irish themed cards were great.  Check out the Fab'n'Funky Challenge Blog to see if you were our lucky winner.

This week we have chosen to celebrate Mother's Day and our theme is...

Honour Your Mum

Our wonderful sponsor Doodle Pantry gave the DT some super images to use and this is my make...

What a cute little birdie!  This is my first straight easel card as I've only ever made twisted easels in the past.  I covered the inside and front with paper from DCWV and then cut the edge of the front using the Spellbinders Classic Ric Rac die.  I held the die almost a centimetre above the edge and then used my Quickie Glue Pen to add glitter.  I used Diamond Sparkles in Butterfly Kisses.

The birdie was coloured with Promarkers in Cyan, Grass and Bright Orange.  I mounted the image into plain white card and then orange Core'dinations and distressed the edge with my new Tim Holtz Paper Distresser.  The sentiment is computer generated and mounted with foam tape using the Spellbinders Classic Diamonds to match the main image.  I added three co-ordinating flowers that I recently bought from eBay to finish it off and add another girly touch.

Hope all the yummy mummies out there had a great Mother's Day.  I spent most of the day at my parents house and had a lovely meal and a good giggle with my Mam.

If anyone was watching Create and Craft on Saturday morning during the 11am show, you might have heard Martyn read out my email.  I asked if he could wish my Mam a happy Mother's Day and he did a splendid job.  She was bowled over!  Next thing I knew my email had been pulled out of the cup of chance and I won the beautiful card that Tina Cox (parchment guru!) made during the show.

Anyway enough of my ramblings!  Enjoy your week everyone.

Happy crafting,
Rachel x
