Fab'n'Funky Challenges #196 - A Touch of Frost

Good morning,

We are back at Fab'n'Funky Challenges with a brand new challenge.  firstly, we would thank everyone for joining in with our Cute Critters challenge last week.  What a great selection of entries.

Now, onto this week and we have Allie as our talented host.  Allie has chosen a great wintry theme for you

A Touch of Frost

We would like to see your cards showing frosty scenes with lots of sparkle or how about the frosting on a cake?

Our  sponsor this week is the wonderful
Stitchy Bear's Digi Outlet

The prize is $10 to spend on artists images feature here today
(Stitchy Stamps, Barbara Jensen, Reece's  Scrap Pieces)

I chose to use an image called Ice Princess which you can find here and this is my card.

I coloured my image with ProMarkers in Icicle, Frozen Lake, Capri Blue, Reef Blue and then glittered her hair with MCS glitter and a Quickie Glue Pen.

I cut out my image with Spellbinders Labels A and mounted with foam pads.  I made the background using snowflake stamps from JustRite's Large Fancy Holiday Sentiments set.  These were embossed with white embossing powder.  The blue tiles were dry embossed with an Embossalicious folder and then cut with my Tonic guillotine.  I might add a sentiment but have left it blank for now.

I really hope you can join us to spread the frost at Fab'n'Funky this week.

Happy crafting,

Our brand new sponsor!
Hello! My name is Joanna Munster, owner/designer/illustrator of Inspired by Stamping. I started crafting 12 1/2 years ago when I started capturing my daughter’s special moments with scrapbooking. I quickly fell in love with all things crafty including cross stitch, crocheting, knitting, drawing, jewelry making but my love has always been towards the paper crafty industry. It is a place where I can lose myself in creating for hours.
Three years ago, my hubby, myself and our three children moved from the United States to Australia. While waiting for my working visa, I started drawing and paper crafting full time with my blog. One of my dear friends suggested that I make a stamp set with one of my drawings and this is where Inspired by Stamping started.
We love every moment of working in this industry from the beautiful women and men that we meet daily, to the amazing and creative designs that we see when a friend uses an Inspired by Stamping set.
You as our customer will ALWAYS be our top priority! If you have any questions or if something is not right, please let us know. We will get back to you ASAP! Our email is customerservice@inspiredbystamping.com

I have chosen to use Christmas Candle from StampArt Design by Kathryne as it was so festive.

I started with my image and coloured it in with ProMarkers in Forest Green, Leaf Green, Ruby, Lipstick Red, Yellow, Sunshine, Mustard, Ivory and Cool Grey 3.  I used a Tonic Die to cut out the circle shape.  Using the super sticky red liner tape I went around the back of the die cut and then attached some seam binding in a pleated pattern.  To get the perfect colour match, I coloured this ribbon using the Ruby ProMaker.  The red glitter dots were added using Stickles glitter glue.  I had originally only planned to do three on each side but as you can see I didn't stop there!

My decorative paper came from a paper pad by Creata and I added a tiny layer to make it pop by colouring the edge of a piece of white card using the Leaf Green ProMarker.  The embossed background was made using one of the Christmas Embossalicious folders.  My card blank is 6" in size.

I really hope you'll be able to join our party and link up your creation this week.  We look forward to seeing you at Fab'n'Funky Challenges.

Happy crafting,

Fab'n'Funky Challenges #191 - Halloween

Boo!

Can you tell that we are celebrating Halloween over at Fab'n'Funky Challenges this week?!  Angelique is our very talented and kind host and you're going to be spooked by her chosen challenge...

Halloween

It couldn't be simpler!  Just make a Halloween themed project and link it up.  We also have a brilliant sponsor this week too - Bugaboo Stamps.

They are offering 7 digis to the randomly chosen winner.  So make sure you're in it to win it!  I chose to use Magical Tidbits Bookshelf from Bugaboo and really love the versatility of this image.

I coloured my image with ProMarkers in Bright Orange, Soft Melba, Tropical Sunrise, Black, Forest Green, Apple Green, Green Shoot and all the Cool Greys.  To get the shape, I used Spellbinders Labels Twenty Five and then created a faux layer by drawing around the die and cutting out with scissors.

My stripey paper is from Bo Bunny's Vicki B Collection.  The black card is from Creative Expressions and I embossed it using an Embossalicious folder.  To finish I added three green gems from Create and Craft which are a really light lime green but haven't shown up too well in the photo.

I really hope you'll come along to spook us this week at Fab'n'Funky Challenges.

Happy Crafting,

Fab'n'Funky Challenges #187 - Ribbon

Hi Crafters,

It's Wednesday again and that means a new challenge at Fab'n'Funky but first, head on over to the blog to see our winner from last week's button challenge.  We loved your great designs.

Again I predict a lot of love for our challenge this week!  The very talented Dawn is our host and she has chosen the theme of...

Ribbon

Simples!  I don't think this one needs any explaining!  Our sponsor this week is the wonderful Stamp Fairy.  Check out their great designs here.

The DT were lucky to be able to use Stamp Fairy images for our projects this week and here is what I came up with using Mimi Falltime 5.

I made a 7" card blank and then embossed using an Embossaliscious embossing folder.  I inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Antique Linen.  My hexagon paper came free with a magazine and I really love all the patterns.  I added a piece of kraft crepe paper.  My ribbon was coloured using a ProMarker in Wild Cranberry.

My image was coloured using ProMarkers in Blush, Walnut, Caramel, Pink Mittens, Rose Pink, Wild Cranberry, Apple Cider and Sandstone.  I cut her out using the new Spellbinders dies Branching Out which launched at CHA in the summer.  I also inked through the die with the Antique Linen to add depth and for dimension I added foam pads.

I really hope you'll add some ribbon to your project and join us this week at Fab'n'Funky Challenges.

Happy crafting,

Fab'n'Funky Challenges #184 - Sweet Treats

Hi Crafters,

Well we are on Wednesday again and that means a brand new challenge at Fab'n'Funky.  It is my turn to host this week and as we are sponsored by the fabulous Digi Darla Designs, I picked a foodie-related challenge

Sweet Treats

You can use cake, chocolate, sweets or even a fruity cocktail in your design.  We would love for you to satisfy your sweet tooth with us!

The winner, picked by random.org, will receive 5 images of their choice from Digi Darla Designs.

Here is my card this week...

I used a pre-coloured image called Chocolate Cake from Digi Darla Designs and cut it out with my Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles.  I inked through the die with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Red Brick.  My background paper is from DCWV and I embossed this with a Crafter's Companion Embossalicious folder.  I added a piece of Coredinations in dark pink which was embossed with a "Happy Birthday" folder and then sanded back.  The pearls came from Creative Expressions and my flowers were also from Crafter's Companion.

While I was thinking of my card design, I decided to make some sweet treats of my own and here is the end result - a chocolate cupcake with strawberry flavoured chocolate frosting.  This is for the true chocoholic!

The cupcakes in the background are actually my kitchen wallpaper - I really do love cupcakes!

I really hope you can join us in our Sweet Treats challenge this week at Fab'n'Funky.

Happy crafting,

Fab'n'Funky Challenges #180 - Make a Set

Hi Everyone,

We are back at Fab'n'Funky Challenges with a great new challenge.  Be sure to head over to the blog to check out our winners from the Christmas in July challenge though.  They are just waiting to be seen!

On to this week's challenge which is hosted by the wonderful Shirley who is a fab cake decorator too.  She has chosen a brilliant challenge to get those creative juices flowing!

Make a Set

That's right this week we would love to see you make a set of cards, maybe a card and a matching tag or envelope. You could make a gift box with a matching card and tag.

This week you have three times the luck of winning a wonderful prize as we have three wonderful sponsors - Doodle Pantry, StampArt Design by Kathryne and Digital Delights.  Just click on their names to see their super designs.

I chose to work with an image from Doodle Pantry and when I came across "Oh Baby" I knew it would be perfect.  I have so many friends who are expecting babies this year!  Must be something in the water!

I made a set of four cards all using the pre-coloured yellow baby bottle from Doodle Pantry and some yellow gingham paper from Craft Artist 2 Professional.

I chose to use blue and pink card blanks for to differentiate the boys and girls cards.  I also added embossing and die cutting to each to help tie them together.  The folders I used were from Crafter's Companion Embossalicious range.  I created the die cuts with Spellbinders Grand Splendid Circles, Labels One and Labels Eight and the "baby" was cut with a Provo Craft die.  My stamps came from a set I received free from Create and Craft for being a club member.

Here they are one by one...

As you'll see I used my X-Cut corner rounder punch on two of the cards and added some pretty pearls to the girly cards.

As we are in our summer season, this challenge will run for two weeks so you have until 6 August to post your entry.

Happy crafting,
Rachel x

Fab'n'Funky Challenges #173 - One for the Girls

Hi Everyone,

We are back to Wednesday again and I'm not sure I like how fast this year seems to be going!  I doubt it will slow down though!

Wednesday means a new challenge at Fab'n'Funky Challenges but it also means that the winners and Top 3 from last week have been chosen.  All the details can be found over at on the F'n'F blog.

We have our blogging Mama as our host this week - the fabulous Judith.  I love the theme this week as it it totally me!  So without further ado our theme is...

One for the Girls

Just make a female-themed project and link it up - couldn't be simpler!  We have two sponsors this week too.  My Creative Classroom and StampArt Design by Kathryne.  Two sponsors means two winners so let's get crafting!

This is my card for the challenge - the girly elements are the butterflies, pearls and decorative edging.

I used a StampArt Design by Kathryne image for my card called Butterfly Border 1 and coloured with FlexMarkers in Aquamarine, Surf Blue and Navy Blue.  I inked the edge with Tim Holtz Distress ink in Antique Linen for an aged effect.

My base card was made from two of the Spellbinders Grand Decorative Labels One cut in kraft card.  I attached with the super stick red liner tape.  While still in the die I inked through with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Broken China.  My main background was made with Coredinations cardstock.  I embossed using the lattice Embossalicious folder from Crafter's Companion and then lightly brushed a Versamark inkpad over the top.  I added Debbi Moore's metal magic and heated from behind with a heat tool.  I really like the effect that this has created.

My sentiment topper was created with Spellbinders Scalloped Labels One in kraft and Coredinations.  Using Claritystamp's Letterbox Alphabet set and Broken China Distress Ink I made the sentiment as I wanted.  The squares come as triple, double and single boxes so I after stamped the triple box, I masked it off and then used the double box stamp to create a five letter space for my wording.  Claritystamps really are the best quality I've ever had the pleasure to use.  My tiny butterflies were punched using a Tonic punch and I just coloured a piece of super smooth paper with the Aquamarine FlexMarker to get the perfect match.  The pearls came free from Create and Craft a while back.

I really hope to see you join us for our girly challenge this week.

Happy crafting,
Rachel x

Butterfly Delight

Hi Friends,

I'm back with another card and if anyone was watching Ideal World last night you might have seen a sneaky peek!  When I saw all the wonderful embossed cards on the Crafter's Companion Embossalicious Pick of the Day show at 9pm I set about making one of my own!  I emailed in on the 11pm show and they showed it on air!  Mega cheesy grin!  So without further ado, here is the card in question...

Funnily enough I've used the same colours as our current challenge on Fab'n'Funky Challenges - pink, green and brown.  Head on over to the blog to see my teamies inspiration.  We have a great prize from MayzyArt too.

My base is a piece of pink Centrua Pearl cardstock.  I used an 8x8 Embossalicious folder on kraft card for the next layer and it is such a pretty flourish design.  Must use this more often!  My green doilies were cut using a Cheery Lynn die called French Pastry.  The green paper is from the Garden Fairies CD-ROM set by Debbi Moore.  I cut two of the Spellbinders Decagons for my main topper and then added a butterfly from the Spellbinders Les Papillion Two set.  My clear gems are from Create and Craft.  Finally my sentiment is stamped in black and I actually bought this stamp from ebay.  I was really impressed with the quality.  Another great bargain!

Hope you are all having a great week.  I've totally blown my crafty budget this month with all the great deals on Create and Craft.  Oops!  I can't wait for the post man to bring them to my door.  Has anyone else bought any new goodies lately?  I'd love to see what you've made.

Happy crafting,
Rachel x
