The Cuttlebug Spot DT Card - Cute as a Button

Cute as a Button

We would love you feature a button on your project and tell us how you used your Cuttlebug.  Here is my inspiration...

I started with 6" scalloped card blank from Anita's.  I made my papers by using the colour picker tool in Craft Artist 2 Professional.  My image is produced by Hunkydory for Crafter's Companion and is from the Angelic and Friends range.  As soon as I saw this collection, I knew I had to add it to my basket!  Just as well Create and Craft had it on such a good deal! 

My harlequin cardstock is also from the paper kit.  I cut this with Spellbinders Grand Decorative Circles in the smallest size as it fits perfectly through the Cuttlebug.  Using Spellbinders Standard Circles, I cut a layer for my topper.  The vertical strip of paper was passed through a paper crimper to create texture.  I bought the ribbon a few years ago from Hobbycraft and it's from DoCrafts' Papermania range.  My finishing touch was to add my buttons and I used Spellbinders Sewing Elements to cut them.

Fab'n'Funky Challenges # 126 - Polka Dots

Hi Everyone,

Now onto the challenge for this week and we have the lovely Anne-Marie as our host.  She has chosen one of my favourite challenges so far...

Polka Dots

I loved making this card.  It just came together when I saw the wonderful Bugaboo image.  We are so lucky to have them as our sponsor this week.  Check out the brilliant Bugaboo Stamps website for some great digi's and inspiration.

Apologies for the slightly blurred image.  I think my ribbon flower was so big that the camera kept trying to focus on that instead of the whole card!

I used Kanban Tutti Frutti pearlescent cardstock for the base card and scored it in half with my Ultimate Pro.  I added a section of polka dot paper and then punched a scalloped edge into brown pearlescent cardstock.  This was achieved with an EK Success punch.  The glittery ribbon came from DoCrafts online store.  I coloured the image with Promarkers in the following colours:

Cinnamon
Henna
Walnut
China Blue
Cobolt Blue
Blender

The shape for my image is one of the Spellbinders Grand Labels Twenty Three.  The ribbon rose actually started life as wired ribbon on a Christmas present!  I pulled out the wire from one edge of the ribbon and then scrunched up the other edge, still on the wire, to make a ruffle effect.  I  attached it to a length of super sticky tape on my craft sheet and simply rolled it up and then secured the end into the tape.  It is attached with another piece of super sticky.  My sentiment came free from Create and Craft as part of the Club Member's free gift about a year ago.

Art Nouveau in the 21st Century

This is the one and only challenge card that I have made, so far.  It was for the weekly sketch challenge on the DoCrafts site that is set by Katy Goodbeer.  I took the topper and decopage from the Nouveau Style CD-ROM by Sharon Duncan and teamed it with Create and Craft textured card.  The black card was embossed with the same dotty folder from the previous post and then I added a strip of turquoise glitter card to bring out the colour in the wings of the butterfly.  The ribbon was from DoCrafts and was as cheap as chips for 68p for 5m!

The Look of Love

This card actually came about because I had been playing with my new Fiskars punch and didn't want to waste the pretty pattern I had done!  You know what they say - crafters never throw away anything that can be used in a project!


I covered the base card with silver mirri-paper and then added three layers of the punched paper, alternating between blue and silver.  The image is from Hunkydory.  I'm a huge Hunkydory fan and have just sorted all my toppers into a neat folder.  I love looking through it and just imagining all the creations that will follow!  I got the ribbon from DoCrafts and have used it on several cards. 

Purple Blooms

This is the first card I've made from my new Stamping Up stamps.  The card is made using the Pretty Petals range.  I just love this stamp.  I stamped the flowers all over the purple textured background card and then mounted it on lilac silk art card which I punched on either side with an EK Success punch. This was all mounted on silver mirri paper. The ribbon is from a selection from DoCrafts. To tie-in the sentiment I stamped it on the same purple textured card and then mounted it on the lilac silk art card.  The sentiment is from the Daisy and Dandelion range.  I rounded the corners with an X-Cut corner rounder punch.
